you've got to start somewhere....

My MFA research project ('codex infinitum' - the infinite book) commenced at the beginning of March 2010... in the proposal submitted to Monash in late 2009 I boldly declared:

"With 'Codex Infinitum' I intend using the book as symbol and signifier of knowledge where my focus will be in the exploring the future of books/knowledge in the wake of the web 2.0 revolution."

and so it struck me that a natural progression of my research could/should involve at least one part of that web revolvution - the blog..... and thus... here I am.

I'm not sure if, what or HOW this blog may form a part of my project.... whether it becomes

* a repository for my musings and ramblings (a webby version of a visual art diary)....
* a record of studio work or exegesis research....
* a method of communicating between myself and my distanced Monash supervisors (and/or fellow students)...
* a manner of connecting to other artists/students from around the globe with similar or different research or work....
* an art-work in its own right....

or

* web junk destined for deletion....

I don't know the answer yet - and I find that strangely exciting

Right now I do know that in its embryotic stages I will be keeping this blog a closed entity.... I'm the sole reader and writer.... but as the project progresses I expect to invite readers to offer advice and critique of my thinking/working/making. Initially I anticipate these to be my project supervisors (from Monash University) - and trusted friends..... then ....

well lets see how the project goes shall we.....
